About us

Childcare should be accessible to every child—that is our vision. Energetic children, quiet children, children with disabilities, multilingual children, children with allergies, and all the children we have yet to mention.

Owner
My name is Brenda, and I am the director and owner of Carpe Diem. I am married, and together we have two adult children—a son and a daughter. My son has a disability, and when he was young, I searched for childcare for him. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a daycare that could accommodate his needs. That’s why I wanted to establish my own daycare center, where all children are welcome.

On April 1, 2000, my dream became a reality, and I opened Carpe Diem daycare in Delft. After completing various childcare-related training programs, I wanted to expand my knowledge even further. I studied at the PABO (teacher training for primary education) for three years and worked in primary education for one and a half years. Since we focus strongly on early childhood education, I wanted to gain all the necessary knowledge to provide the best possible education.

In June 2020, it was time for the next step—the opening of Carpe Diem daycare in The Hague. Together with our pedagogical staff and trainees from various educational programs, we ensure that the children in our care have a fun and educational experience!

Pedagogical Staff
Our team consists of pedagogical staff (PM’ers) who are trained in the development of young children. Currently, our team consists of approximately seven people. We ensure that your child is cared for with love and professionalism. Most of our PM’ers are trained as specialized childcare workers at level 4, which is the highest qualification for a pedagogical staff member. All our PM’ers speak both English and Dutch. Those who speak English exclusively with the children have a minimum language proficiency level of B2.

Groups & Spaces
As a team, we provide a safe and clean environment where your child can develop. Safety is one of our top priorities. We ensure both emotional and physical safety through the organization of our groups. Our spaces are arranged so that children can retreat when needed but also have plenty of opportunities to play together. We encourage development by providing the right environment and materials.
